China Study Tour 2010
Objective
To introduce our Canadian youths from 15 to 25,
to the rich and ancient Chinese history and culture,
as well as in all aspects of the development and changes of modern China.
Highlights
- Complimentary preparatory lessons prior to departure
- Intensive study of Mandarin in Shanghai with exposure to Chinese history and culture for 9 days
- Visits to places of cultural or historical interest, including a number of UNESCO World Heritage sites
- Representative from CCC to accompany the group
- English-speaking tour guide throughout the trip
Itinerary
- Before the trip:
Complimentary preparatory lessons on Mandarin, geography and history of China at CCC on Saturday afternoons on the 3, 10, 17 and 24 of July
- Meet in Shanghai on Monday, August 2, 2010
- Stays at Shanghai Goldapple Bilingual School from August 2–10
- Visits to
Shanghai Museum,
the historic Yuyuan Garden,
the City God Temple,
the old China Town,
The Bund,
Nanjing Road,
the shikumen houses of Xintiandi,
and the neighbouring water village of ancient Zhou Zhuang
- Travel to Guilin, Xi'an, and Beijing from August 11–19
- Cruise along Li River to Yangshuo and view Guilin from the Elephant Hill
- Visits to the Grand Mausoleum of Qin Emperor Shi Huang Di (the Terracotta Warriors and Horses),
the Huaqing Hot Spring,
the Big Wild Goose Pagoda,
the Forbidden City,
the Tiananmen Square,
the Temple of Heaven,
the hutongs,
and the 2008 Olympic site
- Returns to Toronto on Friday, August 20, 2010
Fees
- Land cost: $2580
(includes accommodation, meals, transportation, admission fees to tour sites, and Mandarin language tuition)
- CCC can arrange for the return airfare from Toronto to Shanghai and Beijing to Toronto. Please call CCC for quote.
