Chinese Canadian Entrepreneur Business Conference to be held on September 27

This year's Chinese Canadian Entrepreneur Business Conference will be held on September 27 (Friday) in the Constitution Hall of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in conjunction with Enterprise Toronto's Small Business Forum 2002.

It is expected that more than 1,000 people will attend the various seminars and round-table sessions during the one-day Conference. The annual business conference, which is in its 5th year, was well attended and received by mostly newly-arrived immigrants from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan in the previous years.

The Chinese Canadian Entrepreneur Business Conference, spearheaded by the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto (CCC) and the Association of Chinese Canadian Entrepreneurs (ACCE), has received great support from the Conference's co-organizers – The Hong Kong–Canada Business Association (Toronto), Taiwan Entrepreneur Society Taipei/Toronto, Chinese Professionals Association of Canada, Centennial College, and Confederation of Greater Toronto Chinese Business Association.

“By working together with Enterprise Toronto, we expect that we will draw more people to the Conference,” said Dr Ming Tat Cheung, CCC's President. “It will also provide an excellent opportunity for the Chinese Canadian entrepreneurs to network with their mainstream counterparts, thus creating more business opportunities.”

Enterprise Toronto's Small Business Forum is a joint project between different Chambers of Commerce in the Greater Toronto Area and three levels of the Government. “Created as an exciting forum to network, the forum is a chance to Learn, Earn, and Laugh with fellow entrepreneurs from all walks of life,” added ACCE President Wilbert Lai, who pursued the idea of collaboration with Enterprise Toronto.

The keynote speech of the conference is “How to break into the Mainstream Market”. It will be delivered by Joseph Kan, President of the Chinese Canadian Trade Centre.

Topics for the round-table discussions, to be conducted in Mandarin/Cantonese and English, include: “Trade Financing”, “Opportunities arising from China's entry into WTO”, “Prime – 1% Business Loan”, “How to manage risk in the business life cycle”, “Import/Export and international trade”, “Income Tax”, “Legal issues related to operation of small business”, and “Successful entrepreneur business experience sharing”, etc.

This year's Conference is sponsored by RBC Financial Group, Chinese Canadian Trade Centre, BMO InvestorLine, Ten Ren's Tea Assamiea and Icon Digital Production. The one-day conference will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission to the conference is free.
