2007 Chinese Canadian Youth Achievement Awards

TORONTO, Dec. 17 — The Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto Youth Chapter (CCCYC) will be holding their annual Chinese Canadian Youth Achievement Awards to recognize and celebrate the outstanding achievements of today's Chinese Canadian youths. The Awards has attained tremendous support from many schools and organizations within the community throughout the years. TD Canada Trust, the Title Sponsor, has been vital to the success of these Awards since its inception in 2000. Legend Chinese Restaurant, the Diamond Sponsor, has also been a key supporter with the Awards.

The Chinese Canadian Youth Achievement Awards are given out to individuals who have made outstanding achievements in their respective fields. Each applicant's work is thoroughly reviewed by a panel of judges representing all aspects of the Chinese Canadian community. The four categories of awards are: Performance Arts; Visual Arts; Athletics; and Leadership & Community Service. Three awards are given out in each category: the Gold, Silver, and Bronze award winners are awarded a plaque and a scholarship.

The Awards Ceremony will showcase this year's winners including performances with the piano and the gu zheng. Mr. Hughes Eng, the vice-chairman of the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto, will provide the welcoming remarks for this event. The keynote speaker will be Sister Evanne Hunter, who will be speaking about the United Nations and youth related topics.

The 2007 Chinese Canadian Youth Achievement Awards will be held on January 12th, 2008 at the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto Phase II — P.C. Ho Theatre. Registration begins at 1:00 pm.
