  • Who is the organizer?
    • The Chinese Community Competition is organized by the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto.
    • The Young Asian Canadian Singing Competition, as a whole, is organized by Canadian Multicultural Council–Asians in Ontario and the Chinese Canadian Council, Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
  • Is there a registration fee?
    Yes, the registration fee is $10.
  • Do I have to sing in English or French? Or can I sing in my own language?
    You can sing in English, French, or your own language. However, competitors are encouraged to sing in English or French to show the unity of Canadians.
  • How many songs do I have to prepare?
    You can prepare up to three songs. But you will be allowed to sing only one during the audition.
  • Can I sing the same song for all stages of the competition? If I sing the same song every time would it affect my score?
    It is highly recommended that they prepare to sing several different songs. It can happen that someone else may want to sing that same song too, and one person has to back down to a different song. The judges keep a keen eye on one trick ponies.
  • How do the judges decide who to back down when two persons want to sing the same song?
    It's first-come-first-choose.
  • What do I need to bring to the audition?
    1. Two pieces of valid ID (one of which must be a photo ID, which can be your student card)
    2. Instrumental music CD
    3. Original copy of your registration form (if you registered by fax)
    4. Registration fee of $10
  • Can I use, say, MP3 instead of a CD?
    No. Only instrumental music CD's are allowed. No MP3's, VCD's, DVD's, karaoke discs, tapes, or anything else.
  • Can I bring my own instrument instead of a CD?
    Instruments will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • How do competitors advance to the next round of the competition?

  • Are there any obligations if I win?
    There are a number of obligations if you win in the Final. Please refer to the Terms and Conditions and Competition Rules for further information.

  • How do I submit my registration?
    • Fax the completed form to (416) 292-9215 and bring the original to the Audition
    • Bring it to CCC's office in person
    • Mail it to CCC
  • How do I pay the registration fee?
    • If registering in person, please pay the registration fee in cash when you register
    • If registering by fax, please pay the registration fee in cash at the Audition when you hand in the original copy of your registration form
  • Do I get a second chance if I lose?
    • If you lose the Chinese Community Audition, you still can try again in the Open Audition. You will have to register again (with the Canadian Multicultural Council) and pay the $10 registration fee again.
    • If you lose the Chinese Community Competition, you will not have a second chance since it will be already past the deadline for registering in the Open Audition.
