Yip's Children's Choir, Hong Kong
North America Concert Tour in Toronto at CCC

Toronto, June 18, 2009 – The Hong Kong based Yip's Children's Choir, founded in 1983, is internationally renowned for its excellence and superb musical training for young voices. It is proudly regarded as a cultural ambassador for Hong Kong. The Choir will tour various cities in Canada and the United States next month. Their performance in Toronto, jointly presented by the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto (CCC) and Yip's Canada, will be held at the P.C. Ho Theatre of CCC on Sunday, July 26, 2009.

The delegation, comprising over 40 members aged 10 to 18, is selected from the Choir's overseas concert tour group. They all have undergone formal training and attained the Choir's professional performance standards. Accompanying the Choir will be its conductor Sincere Yip. Over the years, Sincere has led the Yip's Children's Concert Tour Choir to perform worldwide. The upcoming concert will feature popular repertoires of religious songs like Panis Angelicus, violin solo like Introduction & Tarantella, Chinese folk songs such as Moonlight Festival – Yunnan Chinese Folk Song Cycle and Broadway and show tunes like Over The Rainbow, You Raise Me Up, etc. The program will also showcase choir chime ensemble, secular songs, nursery rhymes, erhu solo, vocal jazz ensemble, etc.

Lena Wong, CCC Director (Chair of Programming), said it had been the second joint presentation with Yip's Canada since the Choir's last North America Concert Tour in 2004. She welcomed the Choir to stage their first performance at the P.C. Ho Theatre which was completed in 2006. She added that the concert would also be a component of the CCC “Youth in Motion” series which tasked youth with the responsibility of promoting culture in the community.

Katherine Kwok, Chief Administrator of Yip's Canada, said “highlight of the concert is a mass choir with guest performers from Yip's Concert Choir (Canada) whose conductor is Ron Ka-Ming Cheung and Angel Choir of Toronto whose conductor is Matthew Jaskiewicz”. The latter is also the Music Director and Conductor of the CCC Youth Orchestra.

The concert is a charity performance. All proceeds, after expenses, will be donated to the “CCC Sichuan Earthquake Rebuilding Fund”. Tickets are available at the following sales outlets:
