Some 60 Organizations Pledged to Support
“Haiti, You Are Not Alone” Earthquake Relief

Toronto, January 19, 2010 - The massive earthquake devastated Haiti last Tuesday (January 12) may have killed 200,000 people and was described by UN as the most serious humanitarian crisis. Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto (CCC) spares no effort to coordinate the ?Haiti, You Are Not Alone? earthquake relief. In less than a week, some 60 Chinese and other community organizations have pledged to join the relief efforts (full list at the appendix).

At the news conference held today to announce details of the earthquake relief efforts, Toronto Hong Kong Lions Club took the lead to donate $10,000. Many other organizations also pledged their support to take part in the fundraising dinner as detailed below:

So far some 30 tables have been committed. There will be performance and onsite charity sale at the dinner. Mandarin Buffet Restaurant is generous enough to donate all the food that evening.

All donations will be sent directly to those in need. Donation cheques should be made payable to ?Canadian Red Cross - Haiti Earthquake Relief? and sent to CCC (5183 Sheppard Ave. East, Scarborough, Ontario, M1B 5Z5). Canadian Red Cross would issue tax receipt for donation of $10 or more with provision of details of donors. Federal government will match, dollar for dollar, till February 12
