Chinese instrument training classes
in association with Ken Chen Music Centre

The CCC has teamed up with music instructor Ken Chen's music school
to offer high quality music instruction for Chinese musical instruments.
Registration is open to anyone interested in Chinese instruments.
Classes offered:
- Erhu / Gaohu
- Guzheng / Guqin
- Pipa
- Zhongruan / Liuqin
- Yangqin
- Dizi / Xiao (Chinese flutes)
- Hulusi
- Folk percussion music
Format:
Classes are divided into various levels including beginners' classes and above.
In addition to learning the techniques of playing their chosen instrument,
students will also be introduced to well-known musical pieces.
Class size:
- Large groups — up to 15 students per class
- Small groups — up to 4 students per class
- Private (individual) lessons
Instructors:
- Erhu / Gaohu instructor: Mr Guo-Chen (Ken) Chen,
professional erhu and gaohu player;
formerly an associate professor at the Xinghai Conservatory of Music, China
- Yangqin instructor: Ping-Xin Xu
Renowned yangqin player; formerly an associate professor at the Chinese Conservatory of Music
- Flute instructor: Jia-Zhang Kuang
Renowned dizi and xiao player of the Lingnan school;
formerly a senior instrumentalist of the Guangdong Yueju Yuan (Cantonese opera house of Guangdong)
- Pipa instructor: Xiao-Yun Miao
Renowned pipa player; formerly an associate professor at the Chinese Conservatory of Music
- Liuqin / Zhongruan instructor: Ying Shao
Liuqin and zhongruan player;
formerly an instrumentalist in the band “Orchids 18” based in Guangdong, China
