Report of the Fund-Raising Committee

Since arriving to the position of Fundraising Chair late last year, I have had the opportunity to contact over 25 organizations and solicit support from many individuals. As a result, the Leaders Council was established earlier this year, consisting of 11 dedicated members, including Dr Ming Tat Cheung, Mr Hughes Eng, Ms C. Jin, Mr Stanley Kwan, Mr Henry Hung, Mr Alan Lam, Mr K.K. Leung, Mr David Poon, Mr Gabriel Regev, Mr May Sang Soong and myself. The Leaders Council is charged with the very important mandate of cultivating the links between the Chinese Cultural Centre and its major donors. We sincerely welcome more people to become members of the Council to work together to build a stronger multi-cultural community.

Our Chair Dr Cheung and Vice-Chair Hughes Eng have made fine progress in receiving support from all three levels of the Canadian Government for our Phase II development. Other directors are actively engaged in organizing additional fundraising events, which include a Cantonese Opera Festival, CCC golf tournament, Hong Kong Day at Woodbine and Health Awareness Day, etc.

I am pleased to report that we have already raised $5 million for our Phase II project. However, additional and continued support from our local community is needed to make this objective a reality.
