West Meets East
English GO Course for Beginners

Toronto — GO is a great strategic skill game for two players originating in ancient China and has made its way to charm her closest neighbors, Japan and Korea. The game has been gaining popularity worldwide. Being home for the West to meet the East, the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto is going to organize an English GO course for beginners. This 10-lesson interactive course, of two hours each, will cover the basic concepts, rules, tactics and strategy of the GO game. The Sunday course will start on September 21, 1:00–3:00 pm. Course fee is $200 each. Those who come with a partner can enjoy a 10% discount on their registration fees. It is a great opportunity for English speaking beginners and a challenge to one's mental power while having fun.

The course instructor is the amateur 6-dan GO player Jeffrey Fung. He has represented Canada in various GO tournaments and won a number of important tournaments. Currently he is the President of the GO Club of University of Toronto at Scarborough. He has organized a number of open as well as school and university GO tournaments.

To let the public learn more about GO and share the joy of the game, Jeffrey would give free instruction at the 10th anniversary celebration of the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto to be held on September 20, 2008 (Saturday), 11 am–2 pm at the Centre. All are welcome.

Are you ready to GO? For enquiry and registration, please call: (416) 292-9293 ext.224 or 232.
